Short-Term Objectives

Our objective is to develop the groundwork of a collaborative research community in the field of obesity and energy homeostasis that will evolve to international prominence. To achieve that objective we have five priorities:

  1. Establish a rodent metabolic phenotyping core.
  2. Expand the activity of the existing human metabolism core.
  3. Stimulate obesity research at Northwestern University by annually funding pilot and feasibility studies on a competitive basis.
  4. Launch a series of monthly obesity seminars given by external speakers and an annual scientific retreat.
Other areas

Appetite and gut regulatory peptides, body fat distribution, diabetic nephropathy, digestion and absorption, energy expenditure, gestational diabetes, insulin resistance, obesity-related hypertension, pre- and neonatal influences on subsequent body weight, reproductive endocrinology
